Phonics

In the Phonics links you have been sent you will notice that the teachers regularly use selected signals. The children should all be familiar with these from in school but here is a quick recap in case you have forgotten!

My Turn, Your Turn : When the teacher points to herself it is her turn to say the sounds / do the reading. When she points to you, it is your turn.

Speedy Sounds : Say the sounds as quickly as you can. Can you keep up with the teacher?

'Special Friends' : Two letters that go together to make one sound for example : ch, sh

Fred Talk : Saying the sounds that you can hear (when writing) or see (when reading) in words.

Fred Fingers : Hold up the correct number of fingers to represent the sounds that you can hear in the word.

Remember when readingSpecial friends, Fred Talk, Read the word.

Remember when writing : Fred Fingers, Pinch the sounds, Write it.
