Welcome to Year 1
Teacher : Mrs Bourne
Teaching Assistants : Mrs Smith and Mrs Jones
I can't believe that we are half way through the Summer Term! The children in Year 1 have all been working so hard. We are thinking about our new Curriculum Vehicle, 'Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside!' and we have enjoyed sharing lots of ideas and information about our own seaside experiences. We are going to continue to base much of our learning around this over the rest of the term. The children are also doing super work in their Literacy groups. We are using our new phonics scheme of work Read, Write, Inc. to develop our reading, writing and phonics skills. The children are working so hard with this. A big WELL DONE to them all!

What a year! In Autumn 2020 we were all at school together. In Science, we explored our school grounds looking for signs of Autumn. We found acorns, conkers, sycamore seeds and beech nuts, looked at the leaves on the different trees and watched the squirrels collecting seeds.
In music we used some percussion instruments to accompany the song, 'He's got the whole world in his hands.' We were a very good backing band!
