Our Fair Trade themed sale was a great success. The Year 6 children enjoyed organising the games, competitions and stalls. Everyone worked together well and the younger children were able to visit the sale and enjoy buying things and playing games. The total raised was around £300 which is amazing. We couldn't have done it without the support from parents so a big thank you to all those who contributed.

Year 6 Summer Term 2019
Study club will continue after school on a Thursday for the first two weeks of the summer term. In addition to this, if you wish your child to have extra practice on SPAG.com the computer room will be open before school each day for them to come in from 8.15am.
In RE lessons we are learning all about Easter and Pentecost. The children will also be preparing for the Sacrament of Confirmation and we are looking forward to our visit from Bishop David McGough.
In English lessons we are learning how to write non-chronological reports and persuasive posters based on the ebook 'Blood'. This work links very closely with our Science work for this half term. We are going to be studying the book, 'Kensuke's Kingdom' by Michael Morpurgo which will link to our Geography topic about Islands.
In Maths we will be revising all areas of the curriculum and focusing on any areas which have been identified as needing extra practice. We will also be doing some maths investigations and problem solving work based on using maths in real-life contexts.
In Science we will be studying 'Animals including Humans'. This unit of work is about the Human Body systems and how they work. We will also be thinking about Healthy lifestyles and Puberty.
In Geography we are learning about Islands in our topic, 'Anywhere Island'. This will incorporate map skills work and learning some ordnance survey symbols.
In DT the children will complete two design and make projects. One will be to design and make an electrical toy/game and the other will be to design and make a board game.
Year 6 PE lessons are on Tuesday afternoons with Mr Hancock. They will also be completing a 'Daily Mile' run each day (weather permitting). Please can children have PE kits in school every day as we will be doing extra PE lessons this term and the day for this may vary.
The homework for the next two weeks is in Study books. The children will highlight the pages to be completed each week. Homework should be brought into school on a Friday. It is still very important for the children to read aloud to an adult on a regular basis and to practise their spellings. Reading diaries will be checked on a Friday and Spelling tests will be on a Wednesday. After SATs the children will be given a homework project to complete.
