Traditional Prayer

Each half term at St Austin's every class learns a traditional prayer.  These prayers are used in collective worship in class and in assemblies.

Traditional Prayer Spring 1 2022

In Autumn 2 of Year 4 we will prayer the Eternal Rest Prayer regularly to remember people who have died.  We will also be learning the Memorare.

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,

that never was it known

that anyone who fled to your protection,

implored your help or sought your intercession,

was left unaided.

Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto you,

O Virgin of virgins, my Mother.

To you I come, before you I stand,

sinful and sorrowful;

O Mother of the Word Incarnate,

despise not my petitions, but in your mercy

hear and answer me.

Amen.

In Autumn 1 of Year 4 the children will learn the Prayer to the Guardian Angel.

Angel of God, my guardian dear,
to whom God's love commits me here,
ever this day be at my side,
to light and guard, to rule and guide.
Amen.
