Y2 Homework Expectations

Homework will be set every Thursday and is due back in each Wednesday.

Spellings will be tested every Thursday.

Each week homework will be stuck into your child's homework book. The work will also be uploaded here.

School Jam Maths App

Maths:

-Daily arithmetic

-School Jam

-Weekly sheets based on work done in class.

Please also visit Numbots / TTRS 2/3 times a week to improve your speed with numbers and your times tables.

English:

-A short grammar / writing activity

-Spellings which will be tested weekly (in reading diaries)

Reading books:

Phonics children: will regularly receive a RWI Phonics book to take home linked to their lessons. It is the expectation that they read this everyday with an adult. This book will be at your child's ability and they should be able to decode the words confidently.

RWI books look like this:

 Children will also bring home a 'Share with Me' book from our school library. This book may be too tricky for your child to read independently however we are sending this book home for 'family story time' where the adult can read to the child and then ask them questions to develop the child's comprehension. These books will encourage your child's love of reading as they have chosen it based on their interests.

If your child is no longer on the phonics scheme, they will bring home a colour banded book, based on their reading ability.
