English - Today, I would like you to imagine that you are an evacuee. You have been sent away from your family to the countryside. What emotions would you be feeling? How would life be different for you there? Write a letter home to either a family member or a friend, telling them about your experience so far. I would like to see at least 3 different paragraphs for this please! You can email me your work or put a picture on class dojo.

Maths - https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/

Today, you will be using your multiplication and division skills to problem solve! You will be looking at different possible combinations! Watch the video carefully and then complete the worksheet uploaded below. The answers are there for you too. Remember you need to either email me this work or upload it onto class dojo.

English - Live lesson 12.45

Today, we are using expanded noun phrases and similes to write a setting description. The first thing we will do is come up with some words which we feel describe the pictures below:

Then, we are going to use these adjectives and turn them into expanded noun phrases and similes!

I would then like you to write a setting description of this street. In my example in the lesson, I am going to imagine that I am walking out of my own house and seeing what has happened to the neighbours homes on my street.

Please email me pictures of your work or upload them onto class dojo.

Maths - Live Lesson 2.30

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/

Today, we are looking at the perimeter of rectangles. Have a think carefully about what method we use to find perimeter and what you know about rectangles that can help you find the perimeter! We will work through the video together in the live lesson. The work sheet and answers are below for you. Remember, you need to either email me a picture of your completed work or upload it onto class dojo.

English - Live Lesson 12.45

Today, we are starting a new unit called Space Explorer. This is all about Neil Armstrong who was the first man to walk on the moon. In class, we would be looking at an ebook for this unit, so I have put it onto a power point for you to access whenever you need to and uploaded it below! Today, we will be focusing on the first and second slides. The first thing I would like you to do, is note down what you think are the key facts you have learned about Neil from these two slides. Then, look at slide two, which is his diary entry. If you were to imagine you were Neil, what would you write about this day? You can magpie some of the things he mentions, but I would like you to imagine that you are Neil and write a diary entry of your own about your day at the Air Race!

Maths - Live lesson 2.30

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-4/

Today, we are looking at the perimeter of rectilinear shapes. What do you think this means? We need to use our knowledge of the perimeter of rectangles from yesterday to help us today! We will work through the video together during the live lesson. The worksheet and answers are below for you. Remember to take a picture when you have finished and either upload it to class dojo or email it to me.

9 mins 20 onwards today and any questions like this on the sheet will be your challenge today. This is optional!

English - Live lesson at 12.45

Today, we are looking at ordering things chronologically. When doing non-fiction writing, it is important that we have our facts in chronological order, otherwise it wouldn't make much sense! From the ebook, we are today looking at ALL slides. Children need to go through the ebook and make notes on the dates key things happened in Neil Armstrong's life. They will then put them into a time line! You can create your own time line, or use the document uploaded below. Remember, we need to be picky here and only choose what we feel are the most important events in his life, for example when he was born!

Today, we are using the method of counting squares to find the area of a shape. Remember, area and perimeter are different! We will go through the video together in the lesson. When you complete your work, please either email me a picture or upload it onto class dojo.

Friday

9-9.30 - PE with Joe Wicks

English - Live lesson 12.45

Today, I would like you to create your own job advert for an astronaut. I would like you to try and use rhetorical questions to get the reader of the advert to think about whether this job is ideal for them. You must describe in your advert what the job would involve, for example lots and lots of tough training! Use slides 6-10 of the power point to get information about the sorts of things Neil Armstrong was expected to do. You can type up your work, hand write it or complete it on purple mash, but make sure you send it to me.

Here are some examples of other job adverts to give you some ideas.

Maths - Live lesson 2.30

Today, we are going to continue to look at the area of shapes. Remember, area is the space inside! Together we will go through the power point and share answers. Please note, if you are not doing this with us in the live lesson, then you only need slides 1-10.

Below I have uploaded 2 different work sheets. One is slightly harder than the other. If you know in class you usually have the worksheet with the gold star and sit on the big table by the window, please have a go at the worksheet labelled Worksheet 2. If you usually sit on any other table, please use the worksheet labelled Worksheet 1.

When you complete your work please send it to me via email or class dojo.
