Summer Term Week 3 (04.5.20)

Y3 LIVE TEACHING TRIAL: THURSDAY 1PM

Please log in to google classroom (from 12:50pm) and click on the link which will join you to the 'google meet' meeting.

This trial will hopefully be no longer than 30 minutes.

I just want to set out the rules, explain how live teaching will work and then let the children share some news (if they wish)!

I can't wait to see you all again! laugh

Summer Term- Week3 (4.5.20)

This week we have a BANK HOLIDAY on Friday 8th May to celebrate the 75th anniversary of VE Day!

This means that there will be no work set on Friday.

To celebrate this special occasion, all the afternoon activities this week will link to VE Day, so you can learn more about it and hopefully celebrate with your family.

Normally people would hold big street parties to celebrate BUT maybe you could organise your very own 'stay at home 75th VE day party?!'

Afternoon Activities:

(please try and complete some of these optional activities throughout the week!)

VE Day Poster (History)

Watch the vide about VE day (CLICK HERE) and read the Power Point below.

Once you have done this create me a poster which answers these questions:

-What does VE day mean?

-Why do we celebrate it? What is remembered?

-How do you think VE Day should be celebrated?

-Why do you think it is important to celebrate it?

Bunting (ART)

People often have street parties to celebrate VE Day. Due to COVID19 this isn't possible this year, but you could decorate your windows / houses with bunting to celebrate.

Follow the instructions below and have a go at designing your own VE Day bunting!

I can't wait to see your pictures! laugh

Designing (ART)

People were given medals and collect different items to remind themselves of VE Day.

Have a go at designing your own VE Day medal and Teacup- think carefully about your design smiley

(there are templates below but you don't have to use them if you have your own ideas!)

Cooking / Making (DT)

I know lots of you have been enjoying cooking / baking during lockdown!

If you are feeling brave this week you could have a go at making one of the wartime recipes below!

Or you could make some biscuits / cakes, for your VE Day celebration, and decorate them red, white & blue!

If you do make sure you send me a picture! yes

You could also have a go at making your own spitfire (template below!)

Morse Code

During the War, morse code was used as a method of communication.

Have a go at cracking the code below!

You might even want to make your own code for someone in your family to crack after!

If this is the case, and they are now too hard then please don't worry too much about completing the activities.

You could access Oxford Owl instead and do 15mins reading OR read on of your own books at home!

The more you practice, the more coins you earn and the better you will get at your tables wink
