Summer Term Week 5 (18.5.20)

Summer Term- Week 5 (18.5.20)

WOW- I was so proud of you all in our first week of live lessons!

It did take some getting used to but I am so pleased that you have been able to join me everyday for your learning.

It has been wonderful hearing your voices and seeing your answers so keep it up this week! laughyes

This week we are going to continue doing ONE LIVE LESSON each day.

(after half-term this will increase to two- so I will teach English and Maths daily- timings to follow!)

The lesson will be from 10-11am approx. (some lessons may not take the whole hour!)

I will post the link to join the lesson on 'google classroom' 10 minutes before it starts.

Please remember to turn off your microphone and camera before you join the meeting!

(If you find this tricky I will try my best to help you )

If you miss the live lesson, please still try and complete the work for that day.

I will continue to post flip charts / power points / videos / worksheets on the website for you!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reading:

Read theory: try to complete 1 or 2 of the comprehension activities each day.

I AM AWARE THAT AS YOU COMPLETE THESE ACTIVITIES THEY START TO GET HARDER AND SOMETIMES THE VOCABULARY IS BECOMING VERY ADVANCED / TRICKY.

If this is the case, and they are now too hard then please don't worry too much about completing the activities.

You could access Oxford Owl instead and do 15mins reading OR read one of your own books at home!

Remember it is extremely important to read a little bit every day!

Afternoon Activities:

(please try and complete some of the optional activities during the week!)

RE:

We are currently in the month of May- a special month dedicated to Our Lady Mary.

At school, we usually have a special Mass and May procession where we present flowers to Mary at our school grotto.

As we are unable to do this, I would like you to write your own special prayer to Mary (it can be about whatever you would like).

Once you have written it you could also decorate it (I would love to share your prayers on our website)

You might also like to have a go at making your own Rosary beads like the ones below (using either string / pipe-cleaners and beads)

Remember we say the Hail Mary 10 times (and the beads represent this)

MUSIC:

I have found a music lesson I think you might enjoy: learning to Beat-Box using rhythmic patterns!

Follow this link to the Oak National Academy lesson (I tried it and it was great fun!)

If you feel brave enough- record your Beat-boxing and send me a video on Class Dojo!

HISTORY:

This week you are going to learn all about 'mummification' (sounds cool right?)wink

Begin by watching a video which tells you all about the process (CLICK HERE)

Read through the flip-chart pdf and then have a go at creating your own storyboard to show the process.

If you've got any spare toilet roll hanging around- have a go at making yourself- or someone in your family- into a mummy!laugh

(please send any pictures!)

GEOGRAPHY:

This week we are going to explore the different types of volcanoes!

This video is really good at showing some of the types (CLICK HERE) so watch it and then also go through the flip-chart pdf.

After there is a worksheet to have a go at where you can explain each type of volcano to me.

SCIENCE:

This week we are going to try and build our own skeletons and learn about the names for our bones!

In your original home-learning pack, I did put a copy of this skeleton activity but if you have lost it then I am attaching another below!

Enjoy! smiley
