Summer Term Week 2 (27.4.20)

Summer Term- Week 2 (27.4.20)
Hi Year 3,

I hope you have all had a lovely, relaxing weekend.

Well done with all your work last week. I loved reading your afterlife descriptions and dialogues and seeing all your fantastic fractions work! It was also great to see so many of you having a go at some of the afternoon activities based on our new vehicle topics.

Keep up the INCREDIBLE work and please let me know if you are having any problems!

Miss you all, Miss Vaz smiley

Please remember to upload any work / extra activities that you complete to 'Class Dojo' for marking!

I love seeing all the exciting things you have been learning and getting up to at home. laugh

Afternoon activities:

(please try and complete some of these optional activities throughout the week!)

SCIENCE:

This week I would like you to keep a "nutrition food diary".

Make a note / draw pictures of everything that you eat this week and then see if you can work out which nutrients these foods are giving you!

ART:

Lots of you enjoyed creating your own Comic Strip characters last week.

This week I would like you to watch the next tutorial (CLICK HERE) which is all about creating 'word balloons'.

Once you have watched it see if you can draw some comic characters with word balloons, so that they are having a conversation!

I can't wait to see your ideas smiley

HISTORY:

This week I would like you to create a timeline of events in Egyptian history.

Begin by watching this video (CLICK HERE)

Work through the PowerPoint slides to remind yourself about chronology and then find out about some key Egyptian events.

Then create your own timeline (just like we did with the Romans and Mayans in class!)

GEOGRAPHY:

This week we are going to learn about the layers of the Earth. This will help us to understand how volcanoes occur!

Begin by watching this video (CLICK HERE)

After work through the PowerPoint then have a go at drawing / making your own model of the Earth!

COMPUTING:

Practise your typing skills using the '2Type' activities on Purple Mash.

Monday (27.4.20):

9-9.30am: PE with Joe Wicks (YouTube- The Body Coach) OR you might fancy trying some Yoga (search- Cosmic Yoga on YouTube)

English- "Beth on the Nile"- Chapter 3

Today I would like you to read chapter 3 of the story (on Purple Mash). Afterwards there are some multiple choice questions to answer.

I have also set a short spelling game based on homophones (words that sound the same but different spellings and meanings!).

You have to listen to the sentence and choose the correct spelling. You can set your own level of difficulty (choose whether to see the spelling of the word or not before you put it in!).

Reading-

Read theory: try to complete 1 or 2 of the comprehension activities each day.

Maths-

1. Daily times tables Monster Multiplication game (warm up!)

2. Please click this link (https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-3/)

Today the children need to watch the video for week 2, lesson 5 (equivalent fractions).

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND MAKING EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS AS PRACTICAL AS POSSIBLE-

IF YOU HAVE LEGO IT IS GREAT FOR SHOWING THEM!

The link gives you access to a video which will teach you the lesson. There is then a worksheet that I have attached below. You can do it on the sheet or in your Maths book (please upload to class dojo after).

FRACTIONS WALL: (this will also be useful this week!)
