World Book Day

World Book Day

World book day is a much‑loved event we celebrate every year to inspire a lifelong love of reading and to spark excitement about books across our whole school community. On this special day, children are encouraged to explore new stories, share favourite books, and take part in fun, creative activities that bring reading to life.

By celebrating World Book Day, we help pupils discover the joy and imagination that books can offer, nurturing positive reading habits that support learning and personal growth.

The day also has deep cultural significance. It marks great literary figures such as William Shakespeare, Miguel de Cervantes, and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega, reminding us of the powerful impact literature has had across history and cultures. World Book Day highlights the importance of books as vital tools for knowledge, education, and creativity—especially in an increasingly digital world. It also recognises and supports the work of authors, illustrators, and publishers, promoting respect for copyright and intellectual property. Together, these values help our children understand why books truly matter and why reading can be both meaningful and magical.
