Computing
"Every great developer you know got there by solving problems they were unqualified to solve until they actually did it".
-Patrick McKenzie
The core of Computing is Computer Science, in which pupils are taught the principles of information and computation, how digital systems work and how to put this knowledge to use through programming. Building on this knowledge and understanding, pupils are equipped to use Information Technology to create programs, systems and a range of content. Children embed their problem solving skills through all aspects of Computing lessons.
Computing also ensures that pupils become Digitally Literate – able to use, and express themselves and develop their ideas through, information and communication technology – at a level suitable for the future workplace and as active participants in a digital world.
Our aim throughout St. Austin's is that children develop into a:
Digital Citizen – somebody who is safe and responsible
Digital Creator – somebody who is logical and creative
Digital Communicator – somebody who is digitally literate
What do our pupils think about computing at St Austin's?
Pupils from each class were invited to shared their views on computing at St Austin's through pupil voice discussions and this is what they told us!
Safer Internet Day
On Tuesday 11th February we will celebrate Safer Internet Day in School.
The aim of the day is to revisit and extend the pupils knowledge of staying safe on the internet. This year the focus was on making a difference, managing influences and navigating change online.
