Mini Vinnies Cake & Toy Sale

Our Mini Vinnies cake & toy sale was a huge success after school today.

Thank you to everyone who supported this event!

We will share the total raised after the Easter break! #catholiclife

This morning all the classes have completed a 200km Big Lent Walk to raise money for CAFOD!!
We’d like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents and family members who came to walk with and support their children! #catholiclife

Manchester Camerata Performance

Year 3 represented St Austin's at the Prince of Wales Theatre in Cannock on Monday.

The children performed the song that they composed with the Manchester Camerata, based on a chapter from the book Matilda.

We are so proud of the children who were all brilliant and were fantastic role models for the entire morning.

Hope In MY Heart Worldwide Music Project

Today we recorded the song “Hope in my heart” as a whole school, for the worldwide music project we signed up to.

The children sounded fantastic and sang their hearts out. Well done everyone!

Tag Rugby Catholic Schools Competition

Huge congratulations to our Y5/6 tag rugby team who came 3rd in the Catholic Schools competition last night. They all played really well and had excellent team spirit!

Well done everyone! A big thank you to our staff who coach and support our children through these events too!

Y4 BWH Visit

Year 4 had an excellent morning attending a High School taster day at Blessed William Howard Catholic High School today. During the visit they participated in a PE lesson and were able to experience the different sports available at high school.

Y6 First Aid Training

Earlier this week the children in Year 6 were visited by Steve, who is a paramedic and first aider. Whilst in school he taught the children in Year 6 how to perform CPR, how to put a casualty in the recovery position and what to do in the event of someone choking. All the children enjoyed the workshop and learnt some valuable skills.

The St Austin's Mini Vinnies group is now up and running.

The children have voted and decided on the following roles within the group:

President / Vice President

Hannah and Pedro

Treasurer

Eric

Secretary

Talitha

Communications Officer

Shreya

All of the children will be involved in lots of activities and fundraisers and are doing a great job of preparing for our mufti day and cake/ toy sale to support their charities.

During the school Mass on Tuesday 28th March, they will receive their badges and certificates as they are officially commissioned as part of the Mini Vinnies organisation.

Y5 Greek Day

Thank you to Portals of the Past who delivered a fabulous workshop to our Year 5 children today. All have had a wonderful time completing a range of activities and learning about Greek history.
