Hello!

We haven't used Purple Mash for a while so I thought you could warm up your brains today by having a go at a Phonics game on there. You will be practising some of the sounds that we have learnt over the last two weeks - 'ue' as in blue and 'ir' as in bird. See if you can fill in the missing digraphs!

Don't forget to join in with the daily phonics lesson on You Tube / Letters and Sounds daily lessons / Year 1 and see what the new sound for today is going to be.

In Literacy today we are going to create a mind map. Write the title, 'Polar Habitats' (remember habitat is just another word to describe a place where things live) in the middle of your page and then note down any things that you already know about the polar regions around it. This could be information about its climate, the things that live there, where it is on the globe etc. Just make brief notes for this - you don't need to use full sentences.

In Maths today we are thinking about comparing length and height. Watch the video and have a go at the questions below.

Year 1 - Week 5 - Lesson 1 - Compare length and height

This is "Year 1 - Week 5 - Lesson 1 - Compare length and height" by White Rose Maths on Vimeo, the home for high quality videos and the people who love them.

For your final task of the day I would like you to watch and listen to the BBC Bitesize Clip, 'What is a polar habitat?' When you have watched it, have a go at the quiz and games that follow.

Have you learnt anything new about Polar habitats by watching this?

If you have an atlas or a globe at home, make sure that you can identify where the North Pole (Arctic) and where the South Pole (Antarctic) is.
