Hello! Bonjour! Guten tag! Ciao! Ni hao! Namaste! Hola!
Can you think of any more ways to say hello?
I am working at the Hub school today so will be unable to respond to your emails I'm afraid. I hope you get on OK with today's work and enjoy the activities. If you have time, try to log onto Numbots and see if you can earn yourself some points (you should all have received a username and password for this yesterday.)
Make sure you do your phonics lesson today. Yesterdays lesson taught us a new digraph - 'aw.' See if you can read these words :-
paw
straw
claw
raw
squawk
dawn
Do you know what all these words mean?
For your Literacy today I would like you to start by listening to a story about a minibeast that I'm sure you all know very well - 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar.' Make sure you watch and listen carefully as, after the story I want you to see how much of it you can remember.
After listening to the story I would like you to write down the days of the week, starting with Monday (by the end of Year 1 we are expected to be able to spell these words.) Then, see if you can remember what food the caterpillar ate on each of these days and write this down next to the corresponding day. See if you can write the numbers of items as words too (we need to be able to read and write these by the end of Year 1 as well) and use your phonics to sound out the foods. One of them has our new 'aw' sound in. Which one is it?
For example : Monday - one apple
Once you have completed this, have a go at today's Maths lesson. We are learning to compare number sentences.
And for your final task of the day I would like you to see if you can complete the Cosmic Kids Yoga based on our story of the day.
