Summer Term Week 4 (11.5.20)

Summer Term- Week 4 (11.5.20)

Hi Y3, I hope you've had a wonderful LONG weekend!

If you have any pictures of your VE Day Celebrations then please send them me on Class Dojo.

(Here's a picture of me posing with Winston Churchill at my 'socially distanced street party!' laugh

It was fantastic to see / hear so many of you on our live trial lesson last Thursday & I can't wait to get started with our live lessons! laugh

This week we are going to do ONE LIVE LESSON each day.

The lesson will be from 10-11am approx. (some lessons may not take the whole hour!)

I will post the link to join the lesson on 'google classroom' 10 minutes before it starts.

Please remember to turn off your microphone and camera before you join the meeting! yes

(If you find this tricky I will try my best to help you laugh)

If you miss the live lesson, please still try and complete the work for that day.

I will continue to post flip charts / power points / videos / worksheets on the website for you!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Reading:

Read theory: try to complete 1 or 2 of the comprehension activities each day.

I AM AWARE THAT AS YOU COMPLETE THESE ACTIVITIES THEY START TO GET HARDER AND SOMETIMES THE VOCABULARY IS BECOMING VERY ADVANCED / TRICKY.

If this is the case, and they are now too hard then please don't worry too much about completing the activities.

You could access Oxford Owl instead and do 15mins reading OR read one of your own books at home!

Remember it is extremely important to read a little bit every day! smiley

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Afternoon Activities:

Please try and complete some of these optional activities throughout the week!

SCIENCE:

This week we are going to learn about the different types of skeleton.

Work your way through the PowerPoint (please try and do it in slide show mode as there is a little quiz!).

Once you have done that have a go at matching the animals to their correct skeleton type.

If you can't print the sheet you can draw them into your own table in your English book! yes

HISTORY:

In History, we are going to find out more about Egyptian life and we are going to compare it to modern life today!

Begin by watching a video about Egyptian life (CLICK HERE).

Then work through the pdf document, looking at and discussing each picture!

Afterwards, complete the table to compare Egyptian life to today (you can write and draw little pictures for this activity) laugh

GEOGRAPHY:

Today we are going to learn how volcanoes are formed

(you can even have lots of fun and try to create your own eruption!laugh)

Work through the PowerPoint and watch this video which shows a volcano in Iceland erupting

Then see if you can complete the labelling and process activities.

If you decide to create your own eruption please take photos / film it for me!

DT:

Have a go at some of my Egyptian paper craft activities OR use anything in your house to create your own pyramid / sphinx / sarcophagus!

Some of our class have used recycling materials, cardboard boxes, lego etc... laughyes

SPANISH:

Practice your numbers and learn some of the Spanish alphabet!

Work through the Oak National Academy's lesson (CLICK HERE)
