Hello! I hope you are all bright and cheerful today!
I am going to start with a quick update on the farm animals lists from Monday and let you know that Niamh thought of the most animals that live on the farm. She had 21 animals on her list. WOW!! A big WELL DONE to Niamh :-)
Now - onto today's learning.
Please remember to complete your phonics learning today. Now that we have been introduced to the split digraphs 'a-e', 'e-e' and 'i-e' you will find some more pages in your phonics buster books that you can have a go at. See if you can read the words and say the sounds. Don't forget also to log onto Letters and Sounds to find out what new sound we are learning today.
For our Literacy work today we are going to be thinking about adjectives. An adjective is a describing word. Adjectives are used to describe things and give us more information about them. Start off today by watching the BBC Bitesize video clip that introduces what an adjective is.
Now I want you to watch the short film below and look at the characters in the film. Can you think of some good adjectives to describe them? Brain storm all of your ideas first, then choose one of the characters to write about. Write some sentences to describe your favourite character and why you like them best. Don't forget to include some good adjectives to describe them. Examples of some adjectives you may like to use are furry, noisy, happy, cheeky etc
In Maths today we are learning how to add together and find a part. Watch the video below and see if you can answer the questions from the worksheets. Don't forget to look for extra activities on BBC Bitesize if you want to consolidate your learning.
Your last task for today, if you have time, is to make yourself a set of farm stick puppets. For this you will need some scissors, glue, straws or sticks (you can make your own by rolling up a piece of paper) and some farm animal pictures. You could draw your own animal pictures or use the ones on the sheets below. Once you have made your puppets, see if you can use them to accompany the song 'Old MacDonald' or maybe make up your own story about a farm and perform it to your family.
