Grammar task to be attempted this week

Tuesday

  • English - In your 2dos on Purplemash it will ask you to complete a leaflet about Krindlekrax. Krindlekrax is a book we have been reading in class about a crocodile, who lives in the drain. The children need to use the leaflet template set to create their own information leaflet about the creature. They need to consider things like its habitat, diet, appearance etc. I would love to see subordinate clauses, similes etc!

  • Maths - Fraction bar task. In your 2dos, it will ask you to complete the fraction bar task. Here you have to identify the correct statements about the fractions shown.

Please note, some children may have slightly different work set to what is above. I will be setting activities that I feel are appropriate to your child. All work will be found in the "2dos" section on their purple mash.

Wednesday

  • 9-9.30 am - PE with Joe Wicks: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyCLoPd4VxBvQafyve889qVcPxYEjdSTl
  • English - In your 2dos on Purplemash, you will find a task asking you to create a wanted poster for Krindlekrax. Use expanded noun phrases to help you describe him. Please do include a good description, not just a few sentences! I have included an example of an expanded noun phrase to help you, however year 4 are great at these!
  • Maths - fractions on a numberline. In your 2dos you will find 2 activities for this. You need to identify fractions on a number line and place fractions on a number line. Please read the instructions carefully, one of them will not work properly if you do not drag and drop the fractions onto the arrows.

Please note, some children may have slightly different work set to what is above. I will be setting activities that I feel are appropriate to your child. All work will be found in the "2dos" section on their purple mash.

Thursday

  • 9-9.30 am - PE with Joe Wicks: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyCLoPd4VxBvQafyve889qVcPxYEjdSTl
  • English - You will find this in your 2dos on purplemash. Imagine that you are Ruskin (the main character) write an email to a friend telling them about everything that has happened to you since you have found out about Krindlekrax. You could mention dad stealing him from the zoo, Corky dying, mom feeding it toast. Try and use as much description as you can, remember this is like work we do in class, so it shouldn't just be a few sentences!

  • Maths - You will find this in your 2dos on purplemash. Sort these mixed numbers and improper fractions from smallest to largest. Remember, to turn an improper fraction (bigger numerator) to a mixed number, work out how many times the bottom number fits into the top, then see what is left over, this will help you to order them. Drag and drop the fractions into the boxes. I would also like you to have a go at drawing the numberlines yourself in the maths book you have taken home.

You may find your child has a slightly different maths activity. If they do, this is due to me assigning them what I feel is appropriate for them and will benefit their learning. If you require help with the task, please do email me.

Friday

  • 9-9.30 am - PE with Joe Wicks: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyCLoPd4VxBvQafyve889qVcPxYEjdSTl
  • English - You will find this in your 2dos on purplemash. Think about where we left off reading Krindlekrax in class. Corky has just died and Ruskin has decided he is going to go down into the sewers to tame him. Come up with your own next chapter to the story! Please try and use all the language features we have done in class. This is no different to doing class work so should not just be one paragraph! I will give you a bit of extra time to complete this task, so you will have until the end of Monday to do it. Remember, you can do a bit at a time, save it and come back to it until you are happy with it. I am looking forward to reading your chapters!

  • Maths - You will find this in your 2dos on purplemash. Pairing mixed and improper fractions. Match the improper fraction (bigger top number) to the correct mixed number ( a whole number and a fraction). Remember, work out how many times the bottom number fits into the top, this will give you your whole, then work out what is left over, this will give you your numerator (top number). Your denominator will stay the same. We have done this in class and you were all fantastic at it! Use your maths book you have taken home to work these out. You may use times table chains in you book to help you with working out how many times numbers fit into eachother.

You may find your child has a slightly different maths activity. If they do, this is due to me assigning them what I feel is appropriate for them and will benefit their learning. If you require help with the task, please do email me.
